Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairman Dr Irvin Khoza has revealed that the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League season will commence on October 9 2020.
Khoza made the announcement during a press briefing held at the PSL offices in Johannesburg on Friday.
“The start of the season is presumed to be the 9th of October, the commencement of the new season of the Premier Soccer League, that is the message from the PSL,” said Khoza.
Khoza also revealed the adjustments on the dates for the next two transfer window periods.
“The registration window for the PSL has been agreed by the Executive committee will be on the 22nd of September to the 17th of October, that is the first window, the second window will be first of February 2021 to the first of March 2021,” added Khoza.
The current season which was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic resumes on Saturday, 8 August and will end on 5 September.
Meanwhile, Khoza went on to confirm that three of the four teams to compete in the Nedbank semifinals double-header at Orlando Stadium on Saturday have already gone into the PSL ‘Bio Bubble’ situated in Gauteng with one team arriving today.
“We got four teams that are participating in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup and as of yesterday Baroka FC, Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns arrived yesterday. Bloemfontein Celtic are arriving today [Friday].
All the Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship teams will be based in Gauteng.
“Teams arriving on the 9th [of August] is Orlando Pirates, Sunday the 10th is Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu, on the 11th is Chippa United, on the 12th is Cape Town City, on the 13th is Highlands Park and Stellenbosch FC, on the 14th the last group, Golden Arrows, SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, Black Leopards and Polokwane City.
“GladAfrica Championship, the first group arrived on the 7th of August that is Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), and Real Kings. On the 8th of August, Cape Umoya United, Richards Bay and TS Sporting, on the 9th, Uthongathi and the University of Pretoria. On Monday, the 10th, JDR Jomo Cosmos, Free State Stars, Ajax Cape Town and Royal Eagles.
“The last group to arrive will be on the 11th, Swallows FC, Mbombela United and Steenberg United and TS Galaxy,” concluded Khoza.
