Pitso Mosimane has handed in his resignation at Mamelodi Sundowns.
The former Bafana Bafana coach is reportedly in talks with Egyptian giants, Al Ahly.
According to TimesLive and reports in Egypt, Mosimane, who won his fifth South African championship with Sundowns last month, begins his new job as soon as he is available.
Al Ahly are believed to be keen on activating his release clause. Mosimane signed a new 4-year deal with the Brazilians just a few months ago but is now ready to abandon ship for greener pastures in the land of the Pharaohs.
He was apparently approached after he delivered Sundowns’ 10th Premiership title on a dramatic final day of the season in which Sundowns overtook Kaizer Chiefs who had been in the driving seat of the title race all season.
But Sundowns’ Yogesh Singh said there was no truth to the matter.
“We have seen these things on the online media about Pitso being linked to Al Ahly. But he has not resigned. This speculation comes because the coach of Al Ahly resigned on Sunday,” Singh told TimesLive.
Al Ahly will allow Mosimane to appoint his own technical team.
It’ll certainly be a massive blow for Downs if Mosimane leaves. He has a total of 11 trophies in his eight years at Sundowns.
