Bucs mentor sees light at end of tunnel

Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena was pleased to get maximum points with a 1-0 over Highlands Park on Tuesday and equally happy to have almost a full squad available at his disposal.

Speaking from Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa after the match, Mokwena mentioned something critical for Bucs at this stage and that is they have a clean bill of health with many players having returned from injury.

“Look, we don’t complain much,” Mokwena asserted.

“We’ve had a lot of injuries and we are fortunate now that we’ve got a clean bill of health.

“(Mthokozisi) Dube is back. (Innocent) Maela is back. Ben Motshwari is back. (Augustine) Mulenga has just returned from injury. (Justin) Shonga is back.

Justin Shonga is one of the players that have recovered from injury.

“We are trying to get our team back on the pitch, you know.

“We just keep going – no excuses, no complaints… we just soldier on and we keep going,” he stated.

Pirates now turn their focus to their Telkom Knockout clash against sworn enemies Kaizer Chiefs at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

With a win and having more players at his disposal, this augurs well for the Buccaneers.

“I think the most important thing for us is for the confidence to return… good results bring a little bit of confidence and it’s just about now being a little bit more consistent,” he said.
