Orlando Pirates have suffered their third defeat under the guidance of coach, Rulani Mokwena.
The Buccaneers were beaten 1-0 by Stellenbosch at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday. Iqraam Rayners scored the all-important goal for Stellies.
Mokwena has now been in charge for nine matches (2 wins, 3 defeats and 4 draws) since taking over from the departed Micho Sredojevic.
Bucs’ ship is stormy waters and Mokwena is facing a big challenge in his attempts to turn things around.
Meanwhile, Golden Arrows edged Polokwane City in the other Absa Premiership encounter on the day.
Abafana Bes’thende scored at the death through Ntsako Neverdie Makhubela… his second name of course fitting with this match, considering Arrows fought until the final whistle to secure maximum points at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
Knox Mutizwa had given the hosts the lead in the first half, but Salulani Phiri equalised in the second stanza, before Makhubela’s heroics sealed the points for Steve Komphela’s men.
It was the second time in a space of a week that Arrows managed a win against Rise and Shine.
A week ago, the two sides had met in the Telkom Knockout last 16 at the same venue, with Arrows winning that match 1-0.
