After his arrival in Cairo on Wednesday, CAF president Ahmad Ahmad presented mild flu symptoms and submitted to the Covid19 protocol.
On Friday, the test results came back positive. The President has immediately started self-isolating for at least the next 14 days at his hotel.
“All those who have come into contact with Mr. Ahmad over the past seven days – especially during his trip to Morocco for the Confederation Cup – have been informed and requested to take the necessary measures,” said CAF in a statement.
Ahmad had flown to Cairo for talks over the rearrangement of the 2019/20 CAF Champions League after the renewed postponement of the semi-final second leg between Raja Casablanca and Zamalek, as well as the tournament’s final.
