Perhaps the beauty of the Shelix Helix Ultra Cup clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns could be its unpredictability.
Amakhosi will do battle with Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium this afternoon (15:00), in what it’s the second edition of the tournament since its launch last year.
If, as expected, both coaches opt to give more players a run from their respective teams, it would mean that the opposition would not be able to plan around what sort of team they would be facing.
It would, therefore, be a tricky affair for either side.
As Chiefs mentor Ernst Middendorp summarised, “it is an opportunity to sample a few technical elements of our game,” he said.
“We are playing against one of the top teams. However, we are not worried about them. Ours is what we’ve planned, and we should do well and win the match. We’ve done all the necessary in the preparations,” Middendorp added.
Meanwhile, Sundowns coach has also been bullish about the clash and with his side having won the first edition last year, the ball is in Chiefs’ court to make it 1-1.
