Cape Town City midfielder Shaquille Abrahams has joined GladAfrica Championship side Cape Umoya United on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Cape Umoya acquired the services of Abrahams to strengthen their midfield and also to add an attacking option up front as they look to fight it out for the two available play-off spots in the second-tier league to gain promotion to the Absa Premiership.
However, Cape Umoya are currently 10th on the GladAfrica Championship and will have to win most of their games as they are 13 points adrift from the log leaders, Uthongathi and 11 points away from the play-offs spot with only 12 matches to go.
Mathematically, Cape Umoya can still win the league.
Abrahams made only 5 appearances for City this season.
The 22-year-old with an educated left-foot joined the Cape Town-based side back in 2016 and was loaned out to All-Stars in the second-tier league before returning back to City where he is finding it difficult to make his way into the starting 11.
He also featured for City’s Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) side.
Cape Umoya will next face Steenberg United at Athlone Stadium on Friday afternoon, kickoff at 15:30.
