Cape Town City skipper Thamsanqa Mkhize is set to make history with the club.
Ever so reliable, the right-back has played a pivotal role for the Citizens during the past few years with the club.
Leading by example, the KwaZulu Natal defender is in line to make his 100th appearance when they host Maritzburg United at Cape Town Stadium on Friday.
How fitting that Mkhize’s potential century may come against a team from his home province…
Mkhize becomes the first City player to reach this milestone. “We will be celebrating this achievement throughout the week,” Cape Town City commented.
The 31-year-old has witnessed a change of fortunes in his career over the last few years.
Three years ago he was signed by Orlando Pirates, only to be released before playing a match for the Buccaneers.
Mkhize was then rescued by the Mother City club where he’s remained committed and has even gone on to play for Bafana Bafana.
