African All Stars up for sale

Gauteng ABC Motsepe League outfit African All-Stars is up for sale, after three years in the third tier of South African football.

All-Stars failed to qualify for the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs following their 2-1 defeat on aggregate against MM Platinum (La Masia) in the provincial playoffs this past Saturday.

Despite not making it to the national playoffs, there is much evidence to suggest that they are one of the top teams in the ABC League and this has already been proven by their good run in qualifying for the 2022 Nedbank Cup edition, where they lost 3-1 to Venda Football Academy (VFA) in the Round of 32.

Club representative Tshepo Malope confirmed the development: “Look my brother, we felt like our energy has been expended and you know ABC Motsepe League has got its own expectations. For that reason, we decided on selling the status,” Malope told FARPost.

When asked what will happen to the players when they sell the team, Malope acknowledged that they will keep some of the top-performing players for another football project and others will be assessed by the potential buyer and take it from there.

“We look to keep some of the best performing players to ourselves, whereas for others it will be up to the new owner after assessment because lower-division contracts are for 12 months, which means they sign new deals every season,” he added.

“However, we have already informed the players regarding our decision to put the team on the market.”

All-Stars has produced a couple of players who have managed to secure deals in the Dstv Premiership and GladAfrica.
