Swallows FC announce addition of assistant coach

Swallows FC have announced Musa Nyatama’s assistant coach ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season. 

The Dube Birds have appointed former Kaizer Chiefs defender Ditheko Mototo as the club’s new assistant coach. 

The retired left-back footballer previously represented clubs such as Bloemfontein Celtic, Chiefs, Bloemfontein Young Tigers, and Vasco Da Gama.

“Swallows FC would like to welcome Ditheko Mototo as an assistant coach. He joins Musa Nyatama’s technical. Welcome to the Nest coach,” read the club’s statement.

Mototo also served as a technical director at Bloemfontein Celtic in the ABC Motsepe League and assistant coach at Royal AM.

He [Mototo] will work alongside Nyatama who was recently announced as Maswaiswai’s head coach on a full-time basis after saving the team from the relegation zone. 

Mototo takes over from Morgan Mammila who was the technical advisor to Musa in the last term. Mammila returned to Chippa United where he will be the coach of the Chilli Boys when the new season commences. 

Last season, Swallows finished in the top-eight [8th position] with 40 points and the side will be hoping to continue with their good momentum in the campaign. 

Swallows’ stellar performances saw coach Nyatama win the Coach of the Month for May. 

SWALLOWS FC TO ANNOUNCE ALI MEZA 

The Dube Birds are also expected to announce the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United forward Ali Meza this week. 

Meza left the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit after they failed to retain their PSL status in the Promotional Playoffs.

Meza had returned to the Team of Choice for his second stint one year after leaving the KZN side.

He was tasked with the mission to save the club from relegation, as he knows the club very well. 

Meza was described as fantastic player the departed coach Fadlu Davids, citing that the player gives the club’s attacking option with a different dimension. 

But his impact was not much because of his troubles with injuries.
