Seven players leave the Birds’ Nest
FARPost.co.za can confirm that Swallows FC have released seven players.
Sources at the club revealed today that those who got the chop were deemed surplus to requirements by new coach, Brandon Truter.
Truter took over the GladAfrica Championship outfit recently after Zeca Marques was shown the door.
The new man in charge is said to have been looking at cutting down the squad from 31 players to what he would deem a manageable group.
As a result, veteran defender Thapelo Tshilo was one of the players that were let go, with most receiving letters confirming their contract terminations today.
The other six are Maboke Matlakala, Sydney Motshweni, Muzi Thabotha, Nathaniel Tladi, Slindokuhle Mponzo and and Thami.
Tshilo declined to comment only saying he was going to meet the club on Monday, while the rest couldn’t be reached.
Truter (pictured), too, was not available for a comment.
Swallows, meanwhile, signed goalkeeper Virgil Vries and forward Sibusiso Masina last week.

GladAfrica Championship side Moroka Swallows have confirmed they have added two more signings.
Swallows, who are bottom in the second tier of SA football, have roped in former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Virgil Vries.
They have also signed former Cape Town City forward Sibusiso Masina.
Both players had been free agents for some months.
