Lady Luck can be distant and aloof at times, especially when you need her close to help you turn the corner nearing a desperate point in one’s life.
This is how Bloemfontein Celtic left-back, Sifiso Ngobeni, feels about their predicament at the Siwelele side which is yet to secure a series of needed wins to help them move closer to their DStv Premiership top eight finish dream this season.
As it stands, the Free State-based outfit are currently 11th on the DStv Premiership table with 18 points after 18 league matches. Currently, they have also gone three games without a win, a dip in their performance in which Ngobeni said they hope to turn the corner when they take on league strugglers, Maritzburg United today at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium (Kick-off 17h00).
Maritzburg are currently 15th on the league table with 12 points after 16 league matches played.
“I’ll admit that we’ve been going through a rough patch, especially with our performance up in the final third,” Ngobeni said. “We have not been scoring goals lately and this is one thing we’ve spoken about that we need to improve on as players. The lads have even gone through the trouble of making an extra effort in training to work on their finishing to help regain our confidence in front of goal.
“The Maritzburg United match provides us with an opportunity to start working and fighting for those desired positive results moving forward,” Ngobeni added. “We want to finish within the top eight bracket, as we previously have in the past seasons.”
Meanwhile, Siwelele will be without the ever-influential Ndumiso Mabena who received a red card in their 1-0 defeat against Orlando Pirates midweek.
