Celtic v Sundowns case goes to arbitration

Bloemfontein Celtic have announced that their case against Mamelodi Sundowns involving defender Tebogo Langerman has been referred to an urgent arbitration.

Celtic lodged a complaint against Sundowns for including Tebogo Langerman in their team sheet for Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, despite the defender being suspended.

Siwelele have now confirmed that the case will sit before a SAFA arbitrator.

“Our case has been referred to an urgent arbitration. The club will announce the date once it is confirmed by the League,” said the club in a statement on Wednesday.

Although Langerman did not play in the 1-0 win, his appearance on the bench contravenes the rules in the NFL handbook.

According to the rules, Langerman is deemed to have participated in the match by virtue of his name being on the team sheet.
