AmaZulu FC midfielder Talent Chawapihwa admits the KwaZulu-Natal based club is now fighting relegation.
The struggling Jozef Vukusic coached side suffered another loss on Saturday losing 2-1 to neighbours and rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows at King’s Park Stadium.
Usuthu are currently propping up the Absa Premiership table with 20 points from their 22 games and have only eight matches to save try and save their league status.
“We are not lucky, we try every game, we try everything. The plan is to escape relegation you know and see what’s next, “said Chawapihwa.
Asked if they were officially fighting relegation now, the Zimbabwean international said,
“Ja for now, as things are now. We have a big chance (of escaping) because we are also playing with our direct opponents, the one that we are fighting with down there.
“We are playing against the likes of Baroka, Chippa United…this league is tough, if you are not consistent enough you will find yourself down there.
“Yes, it’s a very competitive league. We just need to win our games simple, “added Chawapihwa.
“We didn’t start very well. You know if you don’t start well it affects the rest of the season. We are trying but ja…our best is not good enough, “concluded and optimistic Chawapihwa.
