When he moved from Algerian side NRB Bethioa back in 2006, Algerian winger Mohammed Benrahma ventured into Europe joining Balma SC which is where he was scouted by Coloniers and eventually Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
The winger left France’s top flight with little reputation and joined Brentford.
In two seasons Benrahma scored 27 goals in 81 first team appearances including last season and was subsequently nominated for the Championship Player of the Season award.
Benrahma inspired Brentford to a decade club record of finishing in the promotion play off spot. The ‘Bees’ lost to town rivals Fulham in the promotion play off final, but Benrahma has many suitors who want him in England’s top flight.
London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea are amongst the clubs interested in the winger’s services with his former Brentford coach Dean Smith also wanting him at Aston Villa
Brentford have put a 25 million Euros price tag on the winger with all the interested clubs reportedly willing to meet the asking price.
FARPost will be keeping a close eye on developments of the story.
