Chiefs and Hollard part ways

Kaizer Chiefs are parting ways with sponsor Hollard after 19-years at the end of the 2020/21 season, the Soweto giants confirmed on Friday afternoon.

Both parties agree that the relationship has run its course and decided not to renew their contract beyond 2021.

The partnership, which began with the creation of an insurance joint venture in 2001, was further developed with the signing of a sponsorship agreement in 2010.

According to Chiefs, the “ground-breaking partnership” has afforded the club’s supporters across the country with a quality funeral insurance cover product for nearly two decades of its existence.

“Over the years, we have certainly enabled more people to create and secure a better future. And we will continue to do so for all Kaizer Chiefs supporters who already hold Hollard co-branded insurance policies, despite our partnership coming to an end,” said eidi Brauer, Chief Marketing Officer at Hollard.

“We also want to reassure customers that while our co-branded stores have closed down, our call centre and Hollard branches remain open for any queries.”

‘The Glamour Boys’ Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung, said the club and Hollard have a long and rich history that spans over a decade of synergistic collaboration which started with providing a trusted and people-centric insurance to our supporters.

“Over time the partnership developed into a sleeve sponsorship and a cutting-edge entrepreneurial collaboration which saw us opening seven KC branded retail and insurance stores across the country in 2017,” she said.

“It has been a very interesting journey which has helped shape and evolve our Club, our retail approach and our thinking about insurance and delivering a one-stop-shop to our supporters that gives them peace of mind knowing that their family needs have been looked after when they are no longer there. We are glad that our supporters’ policies will remain intact even after the relationship has ended.”

In conclusion, Motaung added: “We wish Hollard the very best for their future endeavours and we thank them for being an amazing partner who shared our vision. At this juncture, we both recognise that change is necessary and we welcome energy that promotes much-needed evolution and growth.  As Chiefs, we look forward to an exciting future following a different road map.”
