Chiefs come into this game as wounded tigers – Sukazi

TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi reckons that the Rockets’ game against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium tonight (19:30) will be an epic clash, because of the history between the two clubs.

The Mpumalanga-based side made history when they defeated Amakhosi 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup final back in 2019, and became the first team from the GladAfrica Championship to win this tournament.

“It will take many years for such history to be erased from our books. This now causes this game to be a rivalry. I’ve said it before that after the Nedbank Cup final between Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy any match to follow thereafter between the two clubs will be a big rivalry,” Sukazi adds.

“We know that the Soweto Derby is the biggest rivalry in South Africa but I maintain another rivalry has emerged and that is the match between Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy.  I’m looking forward to it. I think it will be a very interesting encounter.”

Sukazi insisted that the Soweto giants come into Wednesday’s game as wounded tigers after suffering a 3-0 loss in the hands of their rivals Orlando Pirates this past weekend.

“They come from a very bad loss. I must admit that Chiefs usually does recover from a (setback) of some sort. When they lost (3-0) to Sundowns, they went to PE and beat Chippa United (1-0),” Sukazi noted.

“They will be looking at doing the same in the next coming match against TS Galaxy. However, we are TS Galaxy, we won’t allow that to happen for sure,” Sukazi concluded.
