Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that Bafana Bafana international and former Bidvest Wits defender Sifiso Hlanti is training with the club ahead of the new 2020/21 campaign.
As things stand, the Soweto giants can sign Hlanti but cannot register the highly-rated defender as the club is currently under a FIFA transfer ban.
Chiefs appealed on 09 September but no decision has been made as yet as the club is still waiting for the outcome of their two-window transfer ban appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
“Sifiso Hlanti has started training with Amakhosi. The left-back last played for the now sold Bidvest Wits,” read the club statement released on Monday afternoon.
The Durban-born defender is now a free agent and can sign with any club of his choice as he was released by Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhadila (TTM) along with Thabang Monare on September 17.
Hlanti is keeping fit in Soweto under the watch of familiar faces in Gavin Hunt and Dillon Sheppard. While at Bidvest Wits, the Bafana left-back clinched the Premiership title and the Nedbank Cup under the new ‘Amakhosi’ mentor Hunt.
It remains to be seen whether ‘The Glamour Boys’ will be able to take part in the transfer window, which is set to close at the end of November with the club linked with a number of players.
