Kaizer Chiefs have indicated that striker Samir Nurković will stay at the club despite a series of reports on the African continent linking the Serbian with a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Nurkovic had a successful 2019/20 season in front of goal as he hit the back of the net 14 times in all competitions and provided six assists.
The 28-year-old hitman joined Chiefs at the beginning of last season from Slovakian club FKC Komarno and still has two years remaining on his Naturena contract.
‘Amakhosi’ have said there has been no approach for Nurković amid reported interest from Ahly, who recently appointed Pitso Mosimane as head coach.
The Cairo side is looking to strengthen their squad as they are eager to end their CAF Champions League drought. However, Chiefs have categorically stated that their top striker Nurkovic, will not be leaving the club anytime soon.
Chiefs are still awaiting the outcome of their appeal to have the two-window FIFA ban overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“No club has approached us for his services,” said the ‘Glamour Boys’ in a statement posted on the club’s official Twitter account on Tuesday.
“We can’t let go of our top players at this stage, we are not flexible in the market while waiting for the CAS outcome. We would not be surprised if there is interest for him,” added the Soweto giants.
