Chiefs fight back to win five-goal thriller

Kaizer Chiefs have increased their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership table following a 3-2 thrilling win over Polokwane City at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

‘The Glamour Boys’ came back from two goals down to earn a hard-fought victory.

‘Rise and Shine’ were the first to settle and claimed the lead 16 minutes into the match with Lesiba Nku netting his maiden league goal.

Jabu Maluleke doubled City’s lead through a deflected set piece 15 minutes into the second half.

Chiefs suddenly clicked into a higher gear as Willard Katsande found the back of the net in the 70th minute.

Five minutes later, ‘Amakhosi’ equalised through Anthony Akumu Agay.

The Soweto side claimed the lead which led to the victory in the 76th minute as Nurkovic found the bottom corner with a beautiful strike.

With second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns held by Highlands Park on Friday, Chiefs now have a six-point lead with six matches remaining.
