Chiefs players to watch in Derby

Kaizer Chiefs have not won a trophy for over five years.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys will have to get past nemesis Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 semifinals to have a shot at this one. The first leg is this afternoon at Orlando Stadium (15:00).

Who’s likely to shine for Chiefs?

Khama Billiat

Under coach Gavin Hunt, Billiat appears to be slowly but surely regaining his touch. As they say, class is permanent and as much as Billiat’s Chiefs struggles are well documented, he remains a quality player.

The other thing to remember is that Billiat has more often than not caused a lot of problems for Pirates, especially from his days at previous clubs, Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo

Ngcobo is one for the future, no doubt about it and the Chiefs fans are delighted. It’s still early days, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he’s a quality player. He’s certainly impressed in the games he’s been involved in this season and was Man of the Match against Chippa United, when Chiefs won 1-0. For a player who makes such brilliant passes and has some amazing vision, Pirates will have to keep him in check at all times.

Njabulo Blom

The game of this nature is usually won in midfield. As some of the fans have observed, Blom holds everything together in the middle of the park and he’s not the type to be overawed by an occasion.
