Kaizer Chiefs suffered a double injury blow in the 2-0 defeat at home against Maritzburg United on Saturday with both influential players Khama Billiat Leonardo Castro expected to spend some time out on the sidelines through injury.

While the Maritzburg result was bad, the biggest worry for Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt was the sight of star player Billiat pulling up with an injury early into the second half at the weekend.

The Zimbabwean international was forced off at FNB Stadium in the 48th minute during their DStv Premiership clash with the ‘The Team of Choice’ and is set for a two-month spell on the sidelines, ‘Amakhosi’ said on Tuesday.

“Khama Billiat has a cracked leg bone and will be out for two months. We wish him a speedy recovery,” said Chiefs in a brief statement.

As they say, when it rains it pours. Castro will miss Chiefs’ next league game against AmaZulu due to an abdominal strain with Hunt now expected to turn to Samir Nurkovic, who recently come back from an injury to lead his attack at Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

“Leonardo Castro has an abdominal strain and will be unavailable for the AmaZulu game. We wish him a speedy recovery,” said the club.

On a positive note, Chiefs also confirmed that Reeve Frosler has returned to training as he is making steady progress in his recovery from a knee injury with Kearyn Baccus back in contention for a place in Hunt’s team.

“Kearyn Baccus is now back from injury and is available for selection. Reeve Frosler is now running on the pitch. We will update you on his progress. We wish him a speedy recovery,” concluded the Soweto giants.
