Kaizer Chiefs have extended the contracts of veteran striker Bernard Parker, goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and hard-hitting midfielder Willard Katsande by another year.
“Bernard Parker’s contract has been extended by one season, ending in June 2021. Parker joined Chiefs in July 2011 ahead of the 2011-12 Absa Premiership season and will now be at the club until June 2021,” said Chiefs on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old striker has played 19 games for Chiefs with 2 assists this season in all competitions.
Katsande’s contract extension means he will be at the club until 2021. The Zimbabwean has made 272 appearances for the Glamour boys and has found the back of the net on 17 occasions proving to be an integral part of the team over the years.
Katsande has been at Chiefs for nearly a decade now after joining the Soweto giants in 2011 from Ajax Cape Town. He has played 16 times for Chiefs this season in all competitions and his contract extensions puts an end to speculation over his future at the club.
With his recent impressive performances, the Nigerian international goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi who joined Chiefs in January 2019 has earned himself a two-year contract extension which will expire in June 2022. He signed for Chiefs from Chippa United in 2019 and has become the fans’ favourites.
Akpeyi has played an important role in Chiefs’ defence as they are currently the Absa Premiership log leaders with 45 points and a 10-point lead over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns after 19 games.
