Kaizer Chiefs prominent supporter Freddy ‘Saddam’ Maake says the club would have had to answer to the millions of its fans if one of their favourite ‘sons’ Knowledge Musona ended up at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Maake says the Zimbabwean goalpoacher belongs in the same category as the likes of Doctor Khumalo and Itumeleng Khune who only played for the Naturena-based club in the country.
Musona who shares a very close relationship with Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung, has said it many times in the past that he will never play for any other team in South Africa except Chiefs.
“Musona is going nowhere.” Maake told FARpost.
Maake’s comments come after Sundowns’s coach Pitso Mosimane’s admission that the Tshwane club was interested in signing Musona, before he joined Belgian side Kas Eupen on loan from Anderlecht.
“When Musona comes back he is coming back to Chiefs. He rather stay there overseas and play there.
“It’s overseas or here (at Chiefs). Management they know that Musona is our product from Zimbabwe, he is our player. We know what Musona can do, and we know what Musona has done,” added Maake.
“That’s why when I heard that Sundowns were interested in him I posted a photo of myself and him…until an official statement from Chiefs I will not say anything.
“No he was not going to join (Sundowns). The management was going to tell us that Musona was joining Sundowns and then why, big money, or big offer or whatever…then we’ll take it from there,” concluded the Amakhosi fan.
