Baroka have given the captain armband to Zimbabwean goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze after relieving midfielder Gerald Phiri Junior of the responsibility.
“We were looking for someone with experience and felt Chipezeze was the right candidate to lead the team now,” confirmed Baroka’s Richard Mashabane to FARPost.co.za.
“Chipezeze is a national team goalkeeper for Zimbabwe and is definitely our first choice goalkeeper, so it made sense to appoint Chipezeze as our match day captain.”
Baroka are currently bottom on the Absa Premiership standings.
They are set to travel to KwaZulu Natal to play Golden Arrows at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in their next league match on Wednesday.
