In an attempt to save the team from relegation Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has added more personnel to the team.
The Chilli Boys recently parted ways with coach Dan Malesela, after a string of poor results which include a 5-1 drubbing by fellow strugglers Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium.
Last week, the club signed former Orlando Pirates central midfielder Oupa Manyisa.
In a statement the team has announced the signing of Luyolo Nomandela who has been playing for BCM Stars in the ABC Motsepe League, to beef up the squad. The former Free State Stars forward revealed his excitement after he was unveiled by Mpengesi today.
“I just want to say I’m excited, I am happy and I am proud, I also want to thank the chairman of the team for believing in me. The management and BCM coaching staff, every support I’ve been getting from top people at Chippa United I am excited. As I know I am coming to a team that is not doing well in the league.
“I am fully aware of that but I’m not gonna put pressure on myself because I’ve arrived at a team with good coaches, good management and good players. I am just excited to join my home team so that I can play for my province (Eastern Cape). The chairman told me that this is my chance, and I’m very excited as I’m about to go to training now,” said Nomandela.
The 31-year-old is aware of what is stake as the team prepares to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the league on 12 April.
“We’ve got a fixture next Monday against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns they have been doing well but we need three points, like we need to win each and every game that comes our way. The preparations for the game are coming right as you guys know we have a new coach, the spirit in the camp it’s marvelous everybody now is feeling excited and fresh and the energy is there, so I’d probably say so far so good,” concluded Nomandela.
