Bidvest Wits forward Gift Motupa on Friday donated food parcels to families at Chuenespoort near Lebowakgomo.
Through his Gift Motupa Foundation, the Bafana Bafana striker identified 40 less fortunate families to help them with food parcels as they struggle to make ends meet during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Motupa, who was born at Ga-Choene, Thogwaneng, says he knows his people will be proud of what the foundation was able to do for them.
“It is important for our people to get our help where we can and this is what we are doing so we are proud of that and the people that we are helping are proud of us,” he told the media.
“We have spent over R15 000 from our own pockets to help these families. We are not going to do it in these particular area only, it is for everywhere because I am also celebrated everywhere so we will try and help as much as we can,” added the 25 year old.
“Most of the people we are helping are orphans, you find out that the kids don’t have parents and some of the families no one is working so that is the criteria we used as a foundation,” he said.
Motupa started his amateur football in the Chuenespoort area before he was given an opportunity to play professionally at Baroka.
