Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze was stretched off as Villarreal drew 0-0 against Arsenal and managed to progress to the final of the Europa League for the first time in their history.

The 21-year-old had to be substituted in the 30th minute of the encounter in one of the biggest games of his career. He was subsequently replaced by 18-year-old Spanish winger Yeremi Pino.

Villarreal is expected to release a statement regarding the seriousness of the injury, but it did not look good for the Nigeria international who was heart broken to leave the pitch in such a sad manner.

Unai Emery’s side progressed to the final of the competition after managing to hold their host to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium. The Yellow Submarine won the first leg 2-1 and the Gunners failed to score the all important goal which would have turned the tie around in their favour.

Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang hit the post two twice as the ball refused to go into the back of the net. Aubameyang was substituted in the 78th minute of the game as the Gunners crashed out of the competition.

Nicolas Pepe played the entire 90 minutes while Ghanaian anchor Thomas Partey featured for the whole duration of the encounter in the centre of the midfield.

Elsewhere, Manchester United lost 3-2 against AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, but still managed to reach the final with a 8-5 aggregate score. The Red Devils won the first leg 6-2 at Old Trafford last week which put them in the driving seat going to the second leg.

Ivorian defender Eric Baily started and played the entire 90 minutes for Manchester United.
