Cape Town City have confirmed that midfielder Mpho Makola will still be part of the club next season after the two parties agreed on an extension.
Makola’s two-year contract was due to expire at the end of the current season.
But the Citizens’ chairman John Comitis has since confirmed that the 35-year-old has signed a new deal and also gave an update on the Aubrey Ngoma situation.
“Let me start with (Mpho) Makola. Makola has signed a new contract with us so he will be with us in the new season,” said Comitis.
“Aubrey Ngoma, unfortunately we are at the mercy of Sundowns decision with Aubrey. They have an option for one more year with him so we need to wait and see what happens with their decision first so at this stage we can’t comment on that,” he said.
Comitis also addressed the widespread reports that newly appointed coach Eric Tinkler wants to bring current Baroka assistant Vincent Kobola for the same role at City.
“Regarding Vincent Kobola, we have two very competitive coaches assisting coach Eric, that’s Aaron (Mokoena) and Diego Peral so at this stage we have not entrained anything different,” added Comitis.
