Black Leopards coach Alan Clark has explained the absence of star player Lesedi Kapinga in the team during their 1-0 defeat by Baroka on Saturday afternoon.
Kapinga was a notable absentee in the Lidoda Duvha squad in their Nedbank Cup elimination at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
FARPost reported recently that the 24-year-old is on his way out of the club when his contract comes to an end in June and Mamelodi Sundowns have put an offer on the table.
“Lesedi has had a lot on his plate I think there is a lot of pressure from outside in terms of expectations from fans,” Clark told reporters after the match.
“He had a good first half of the season and it’s difficult to sort of maintain that, he is a young man and we need to be mindful of that.
“We need to be mindful of the mental pressure that is placed on players, he was not looking sharper in our last few games so we wanted to give him a little bit of break knowing how important our League campaign is,” added Clark.
This was the first match where Kapinga is not part of the match day squad the entire season.
