Clark explains Thuso Phala’s lack of game time

Black Leopards coach Alan Clark has clarified the absence of veteran midfielder Thuso Phala from the team line up or even the bench since December last year.

Phala’s last match was during the 3-1 defeat by Orlando Pirates on December 21.

The 33-year-old’s absence has raised eyebrows amongst some of the Lidoda Duvha faithfuls who thought the player was no longer part of the team.

“There is nothing wrong with Thuso he is fine but you have to look at the performance of Xolani Ndlovu tonight and tell me if he did a good job or he didn’t but I think he did a good job,” Clark told reporters.

“So then you have to say look the boy did a good job and it’s about maybe having options. Thuso is a wonderful player probably one of the best in South Africa but Xolani is on form and he is doing well so I am giving him some opportunities,” added Clark.

Phala has made 13 appearances for Leopards this season with 12 in the Absa Premiership and 1 in the Telkom Knockout.
