Coach accuses TTM fans of having an agenda

There was drama at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday afternoon following Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila’s 0-2 defeat by Free State Stars in a GladAfrica Championship match.

Frustrated fans of TTM allegedly verbally attacked stand-in coach Lucky ‘Mchichwa’ Nelukau after the match demanding that he relinquish his position following 2 straight defeats at home.

Nelukau was escorted out of the stadium by security personnel on duty.

TTM fans accuse Nelukau of being a puppet and taking match instruction from owner Masala Mulaudzi and not being man enough to make football decisions.

Nelukau took over from Netherlands-born Erol Akbay who stepped down after only a month at the helm, after accusing owner Mulaudzi of ‘interference’ and unprofessionalism.

A source has brought it to #FARPost’s attention that it was not a pleasant scene to see at the weekend.

“It was not good at all – the fans were angry, venting and blaming him for the poor results. They raised the issue that him and the management are always chopping and changing the team even when they are winning. The fans were fed up and are not impressed with what is happening at the team.”

Speaking to #FARPost, Nelukau confirmed the incident but has accused a certain section of the Limpopo side of trying to show Mulaudzi that they care for the club by using him.

“It’s nothing unusual about the incident as you know there are always people pushing an agenda. Every team can lose… we have also beaten a lot of teams at their home grounds before. That was my 4th match ever since I took over and I have a win, 1 draw and 2 defeats including the Nedbank Cup one that we had to go to extra-time,” he said.

Nelukau also rubbished the accusations that he is just a messenger on the bench and take all instructions from his boss, Mulaudzi.

“If they are not happy why are they angry at me instead of the person that they say is the one in charge and giving me instructions? Then they must be angry at the Club President if they know it’s not me setting up the team. But if they protest towards me then I am the one doing the team. That’s why I am saying there is no issue here because if there is then they must go to the Management,” he insisted.

“Some were swearing like that trying to show the team owner that they care and they are loyal supporters so it is being done by people who are close but they don’t know that the owner is well aware of what is going on and doesn’t care about their acts. I also don’t care, this thing also happened to Pitso (Mosimane) a lot of times but look at him now he is a top coach in the World, so I also don’t care. The security personnel were also wasting their time trying to protect me because no one was going to do anything to me” he said.

Nelukau is one of the longest serving members of Tshakhuma and is a close confidant of club owner Masala Mulaudzi.
