Pretoria Callies head coach Joel Masutha has become the latest football personality to be targeted by scammers.
Masutha’s phone was hacked by fraudsters a few days before their opening GladAfrica Championship match of the season against TS Sporting which they lost 1-0.
The perpetrators are demanding money from Masutha’s contacts promising them, amongst other things trials, playing contracts and jobs at Callies.
The coach has alerted this publication of the shenanigans and confirmed that authorises are currently dealing with the matter.
“I have received calls from people since last week, event today, about these unfortunate incidents where people are using my name promising them the world in return for money,” said Masutha.
“I can confirm to you that my phone has been hacked and the relevant authorities are working on it. I advise people who are receiving strange texts from these people to be alert and report them.
“I don’t host trials, I don’t employ people and if there is any communication it will be from the club itself and not the coach,” he added.
