TS Galaxy frontman Wayde Lekay says consistency is what kept his side going, having recorded four victories in their last six league games.
The 23-year-old striker had an incredible run of form for the Rockets in those matches.
Galaxy will take on SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in a DStv Premiership this afternoon.
The game will kick-off at 17:00.
“Coaches have been preaching the verse of consistency and it is the most important thing right now. This is what got us to where we are at the moment,” Lekay told the club’s official site.
“It is something that we’ve got to maintain. The game against SuperSport is very important for us. We are taking it one game at a time.”
The Mpumalanga-based side currently sit 8th on the log standings with 22 points from 17 outings.
Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa are placed second on the table with 33 points after 18 games.
“The most key thing for us at the moment is the unity within the team. On and off the field we are encouraging one another. We are having our little team talk at half-time and before the matches. The support is huge,” he explains.
“When someone makes a mistake we are there to support him. That has been key to our success in the past six games. The unity, character, and passion are making us look good. It is there to see. We came from behind against Swallows. It is just a sheer drive from each and every player.”
He further said that it’s a good feeling to be in the top-eight considering where the team was in January.
“The more success you get the more you have to work hard. For now, it is going to be a tough battle as things are not going to get any easier,” Lekay stated.
“We are ready to take on the challenge. Our mindset is right. The opposition teams can recognise the talent that we have in our team and the hard work we’ve put. We need to know that teams are going to come for us and we are prepared for that.”
