The Secretary of State for Sport, Carlos Gilberto Mendes, has called on the leaders of the Mozambican Football League and the Mozambican Football Federation, Ananias Couana and Feizal Sidat, to clarify the conditions for the start of the 2020/21 Mozambola season.
Sidat said that the league will start, effectively, between 9 or 16 January, leaving only the Mozambican Football League to hold its general assembly for the draw and discussion of other organizational matters.
Furthermore, Feizal promised that the Mozambican Football Federation will support clubs that have financial problems because they do not have sponsorship from state companies or other forms of income, taking into account the first days will be behind closed doors.
In turn, Couana assured that this year the General Assembly of the Mozambican Football League will be held for the draw of the Mozambola.
Couana went on to state that sponsors were identified who will cover the deficit of around 18 million meticais for the air transport item, which remained an Achilles’ heel for the start of the race, and that over the season the budget will be covered by these partners.
In other words, Mozambique will start without the budget having been covered in its entirety, but with guarantee and security that the test will run until the end.
