Major League Soccer (MLS) club FC Cincinnati have confirmed the acquisition of South African midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo on a free transfer.
Mokotjo joins Cincinnati after leaving English Championship side Brentford at the end of the season.
“We are pleased to add a player in Kamo who will be a strong fit for what we are looking to do at FC Cincinnati,” said the club general manager Gerard Nijkamp.
“He is an intelligent player that will be an asset for our club on both sides of the pitch. We look forward to welcoming Kamo to Cincinnati and having him integrate within our locker room.”
The Bafana Bafana midfielder also explained his choice of joining Cincinnati after many offers in Europe.
“I felt like now is the right moment for a new challenge at a club that has big potential and is willing to challenge itself,” said Mokotjo
“I think in a way this is a perfect match. I’m honoured and ready to relish this opportunity and challenge.” he concluded
Mokotjo will now join the likes of Shaun Bartlett and Doctor Khumalo and other South African players to have played in the MLS.
