Baroka winger Thamsanqa Masiya has also come out to clarify the ‘confusion’ regarding his contract with the club following comments made by his father, Joel Masilela.
This comes after Baroka reacted angrily to the claims by Masilela that they can’t sell his son to any other club other than Mamelodi Sundowns, due to an ‘existing clause’ in his three-year contract.
Bakgaga chairman Khurishi Mphahlele lashed out at Masilela on Thursday calling him reckless.
Masiya, who was also in attendance during the press briefing arranged by the club, described the whole situation as a misunderstanding.
“All I can say based on the clause and everything is that those are false comments made by my father,” Masiya told the media.
“I don’t know maybe it’s a misunderstanding from his side but when I came here, I came with a clean clearance, there was no clause, nothing. I am happy here and I can’t wait to continue with the season.
“No, he was not present (when I signed my contract), in fact every deal I have signed I was always with my agent because I don’t want to involve him in terms of contractual issues,” he said.
“I have not spoken to him in a long time, so it’s been a while. I am just trying to focus on the team right now and also on the game on Sunday. These are just things that are happening out there, so when I am here I just block everything out,” added Masiya.
The 24-year-old has been a revelation for Bakgaga in his second season. He has played in all games, provided two assists and one Man of the Match award.
