Ivorian winger Maxwell Cornet is looking forward to playing in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old recently completed a move to Burnley for a club record £15m from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais.

Burnley revealed that the attacker has signed a five-year deal which will keep him at the club until June 2026.

Cornet is now the record club signing for Burnley who are known to believe in keeping the players they have on their roaster rather than spending big on the transfer market.

Manager Sean Dyche pushed for the attacker to be signed before deadline day and his wish was granted by the club’s board of directors.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Cornet said he is looking forward to starting his journey at Turf Moor.

“I am excited to be joining Burnley in the Premier League and to play with and against many of the greatest players in the world.

“I have developed the greatest respect for Burnley and what the club has done. I welcome the challenge of hard work and I’m fully committed to doing what I can to contribute.”

At Lyon, Cornet scored a total of 51 goals in the seven years he spent with the French outfit and he was a member of the squad that reached the semi-final of the 2019/20 Uefa Champions League.

At international level, he has played 21 games and scored four goals for the Elements since making his debut back in 2017.
