Mozambican champions Costa do Sol have re-assembled to begin their preparations for the 2020/21 Mocambola season, set to get underway on 1 November and conclude on 31 July 2021.
However, these dates require ratification by the General Assembly as the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) warns that “the dates of the sporting season may not be definitive” amid Covid-19.
Costa do Sol are hard at work following the suspension of training due to the emergence of positive cases within the club.
The Maputo-based outfit have been bolstered with the addition of Jorge and Geraldo Matsimbe ahead of the new campaign and the CAF Champions League.
Costa do Sol, under the guidance of Portuguese coach Horácio Gonçalves, won the Mocambola for the first time in 12 years.
“The National Champion Costa do Sol, returned to training over the weekend, after being forced to stop work last week due to the two positive cases of Covid-19 that appeared in the group of work,” the club said in a statement.
“FMF granted a national license to the Costa do Sol Sports Club to participate in the National Championship of the First Division (Mozambola) 2020/21, for having proven compliance with the requirements laid down as imperatives for the club licensing process.”
