SA defender Bradley Cross is reportedly being monitored by English Premier League clubs.
Having left SA in 2018 to pursue a career in Germany – from Bidvest Wits to giants Schalke 04 – the 19-year-old has had a good time so far playing for Schalke’s U19 side so much so that the left-footed centre back has attracted interest from top Premier League clubs this season playing as a regular for the youth side of the Bundesliga outfit.
Cross is also lucky to be playing with Finish-German highly rated teenage centre back Malick Thiaw who is on the wanted list of some of Europe’s elite clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City with scouts from these clubs all descending to Germany to watch the teenager in action.
Cross’s partnership with Thiaw is now benefiting him because now through his displays the scouts have now also shown big interest in monitoring him over the next few months when football resumes.
This has also been confirmed by UK’s Daily Mail.
Cross has represented SA youth teams until U20 level, but he also has a British passport through his parents so signing for any club in Europe should not be a problem for him, in terms of obtaining a work permit.
There are a few talented left-footed centre backs in the world and with Cross showing so much potential he might be the next big thing in SA football should his development at Schalke continue to be as fast as it has been over the last 18 months.
