Cape Town City have parted ways with coach Jan Olde Riekerink by mutual agreement a few hours after announcing the departure of Greek defender Giannis Potouridis.
The ‘Citizens’ released a statement on Friday stating that the Dutch coach will be making a return to Europe after two years at the club.
Earlier this month, CT City placed Riekerink on leave in what was his first full season with the club after replacing Benni McCarthy mid-way through last season. But the club has since announced that they have relieved the coach of his duties.
“The club can confirm that it has officially parted ways with coach Jan Olde Riekerink by mutual agreement. Jan will return to Europe to continue his coaching career,” said CT City.
“We thank Jan for his contribution to the City family and wish him every success in his future endeavours.”
The Cape side is currently seventh on the DStv Premiership table, but have endured a very topsy-turvy season with 38 points in 28 matches – nine draws, 11 draws, and eight defeats.
