The saga involving Sekhukhune United, Polokwane City and Royal AM regarding the rightful winners of the GladAfrica Championship will be decided today.
Royal AM are currently the winners of the GladAfrica Championship 2020/21 season with 51 points, pending the finalization of the PSL arbitration hearing which decided that Sekhukhune United should be awarded three points for their match against Polokwane City.
The three points was awarded to Sekhukhune on the basis that Polokwane City failed to register five U23 players on their team sheet against Sekhukhune.
SAFA has reiterated its position on the matter, giving thumbs up to the arbitrator, who awarded three points to Sekhukhune United.
Should that decision remain, Sekhukhune will be crowned champions GladAfrica Championship with 53 points while Royal AM have 51 points.
The matter will be presided by Judge Sutherland today, with the outcome of the case expected to be announced tomorrow, 12 June 2021.
Meanwhile, two other clubs, Richards Bay FC and TS Sporting have joined in support of Sekhukhune, whose case has also been supported by SAFA.
It remains to be seen if all parties involved will respect the court judgement that will be handed down, as promotional/relegation playoffs depend on the matter.
