Dladla backs Musonda to rediscover his scoring touch

Swallows interim coach Simo Dladla insists it’s only a matter of time before striker Mwape Musonda adjust at the club and start scoring goals regularly.

The 2018/19 PSL top goalscorer has made three appearances, all as a substitute, since joining at the beginning of the season and is yet to find the back of the net.

But Dladla says the club is giving all the necessary support to the 30-year-old and it’s only a matter of time before goals start pouring.

“His quality is second to none, he is a good player. But like you said yes, he is struggling for game time. We have been working on his fitness level and his conditioning but more especially his confidence,” Dladla told the media ahead of their MTN 8 semifinal clash against Cape Town City on Wednesday (18:00).

“I think he is a player that if he can score one goal, we will see rainfall of goals after that one goal. That is why we are sparingly using him so that he gets the confidence back.

“Once he gets the feel of the ball, he gets the feel of the game and the feel of his teammates so that they get to understand his strengths and of course his weaknesses. But yes, he is in the team now and he is going to start sometime soon and I am looking forward to good performances from him,” he said.

Swallows will host the Citizens at Dobsonville Stadium in the second leg of the MTN 8 semifinal clash.

The two clubs played to a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
