Uthongathi FC coach Pitso Dladla has made it clear that he wants to sign certain players from relegated Bizana Pondo Chiefs.
Uthongathi finished the GladAfrica Championship season in 11th position, after suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Pondo Chiefs at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday.
Dladla told FARPost that he wants to sign some players from the Eastern Cape side, whom he believes don’t deserve to go down to the ABC Motsepe League.
“I’m gonna go to the management and tell them that don’t think twice, sit down sign these boys. It’s not a matter of taking them to trials, taking them to the training session,” Dladla said.
“It’s a matter of sitting down, I’ll do my recommendations, sign them now before other teams take them.
“With due respect Bizana Pondo Chiefs have got players who really work hard, I think they deserve a second chance to play in the league,” said Dladla.
He also alluded to his team’s disimal display against a relegated side, as he could not motivate his charges after reaching their target for the season.
“I’m very disappointed with the result, but look at the end of the day, for anyone who was here at the ground could tell, it’s a game that we should’ve at least scored 10 goals.
“At the end of the day, I think we were too relaxed in terms of having to achieve what we wanted to achieve this season.
“The mandate for us was to avoid relegation, of which we avoided relegation with few games to go.
“That is why also today we suffered a hiding like this, because already it was a challenge for the technical team to motivate these boys. They knew that they had already achieved what was meant to be achieved by the team,” concluded Dladla.
