The week-long Dondol Community games came to an end on Sunday night with yet another full house support at the City Ramblers Grounds in the Blouberg Municipality.
The annual games are organized by Dondol Stars (Gauteng ABC Motsepe League) Chairman, Lordwick ‘Dondol’ Makhura and it is on it’s 4th year running.
Blouberg Municipality Mayor, Cllr Maseka Pheedi was also amongst the many dignitaries that graced the event.
Makhura says he saw an urgent need to partner with other stakeholders to try and resurrect football at his home Village.
“The vision here is very simple because this is a very remote area and football is dying this side while I am having a soccer team in Pretoria so my vision is that this Tournament must resurrect football in this area” Makhura told FARPost.co.za.
“That’s why you can see we have Under 15 and Under 17 because those are the foundation of development. We hope that one day this Tournament will inspire these young ones to take football serious,” He emphasized.
“So, our biggest vision is that we give the platform and the space to the youngsters so that we can produce more players that can play at a professional Level and even make it to overseas”
The Tournament has produced the likes of Black Leopards midfield maestro Lesedi ‘TT’ Kapinga who was part of the inaugural Tournament back in 2016.
The Prize money for the senior men is R 75 000 Plus aTrophy, Soccer Kit, Soccer Balls and Medals.
