Sundowns Ladies edge closer to title

With only 4 games remaining Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are clear favourites to clinch the inaugural Safa National Women’s League (SNWL).

Sundowns Ladies’ hard-fought 2-0 victory over a determined University of Western Cape (UWC Ladies) side on Tuesday afternoon at UWC Stadium was their 18th consecutive victory in the league.

Rhoda Mulaudzi scored a brace to take her tally of goals to 29, only 2 behind SNWL top scorer Hilda Magaia, TUT Ladies captain.

With the victory, Sundowns have stretched their lead at the top of the table to 7 points ahead of second-placed Tshwane University of Technology (TUT Ladies).

Downs Ladies might have one hand firmly on the SNWL title but TUT Ladies are mathematically still in the running to win the league while third-placed Bloemfontein Ladies are now out of the title race as they are 18 points adrift of the leaders.

TUT Ladies will next face UWC Ladies on Sunday at TUT Main Stadium, kickoff at 15:00. Meanwhile, Sundowns Ladies will host First Touch Ladies on Saturday at Chloorkop Ground, kickoff at 15:00.
