Downs ladies look to keep winning streak alive

Despite being top of the Safa National Women’s League (SNWL) with a perfect record of 13 consecutive wins, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies goalkeeper Andile Dlamini says the league has been competitive ahead of their clash against Durban Ladies on Saturday at Chloorkop Ground.

Sundowns Ladies are sitting comfortably at the top with 39 points with second-placed Bloemfontein Celtic 7 points behind. They have conceded the least number of goals (7) and scored 42 goals from 13 matches.

“The league has been competitive when it comes to Sundowns, we are really serious, and we take every game seriously,” said Dlamini.

“It is not easy, and it won’t be easy going into the second round. Teams are giving us a hard time and when we win games, is not because it is easy, it is because we work hard.

“I am not going to say we are going to win the national league now; we have to continue working hard to clinch it. We are still going to play against superstars. The opponents that we play are tough, we struggle a lot as they are giving us a challenge.”

Dlamini who is also a goalkeeper for Banyana Banyana said the SNWL is developing every game and they are the team to beat.

“Every time we play and win, the next team pushes to beat Sundowns so, we are the number one team right now, but we just have to maintain it and keep playing as a team.”
