Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rhulani Mokwena has given an update on the injured players and the returning international stars ahead of their league match against AmaZulu this weekend.
Masandawana who are the current DStv Premiership log leaders will host Usuthu at Loftus Stadium on Sunday.
Although Sundowns have a bigger pool of players to select from, Mokwena admits that there are a few players they are concerned about their fitness.
“We are sweating and we are a little bit concerned on some of the players,” Mokwena told Downs’ media team.
“We are concerned about AJ (Andile Jali). AJ has not trained with us but we are getting good feedback from the Doctors so we have to see on AJ and assess leading up to the game.
“Kermit (Erasmus) when he comes back from Bafana we will have to assess because you know with a mascular injury and all these niggles. Studies always show that niggle injury always relates to an injury 75% of the time so it’s important that we treat that as a serious precaution,” he said.
“We also have to check the players that have come back (from national duty), Peter (Shalulile), they have beennall over Africa. Brian Onyango we have to check, Thapelo (Morena), Lyle Lakay we have to see where they are in terms of their conditioning and their recovery and their readiness for the match,” added Mokwena.
