The Absa Premiership thrilling title race is going down to the final day after Mamelodi Sundowns comfortably beat Polokwane City 3-0 at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday evening.
On the very same night, leaders Kaizer Chiefs strengthened their bid for the title with a narrow 1-0 win over Chippa United at Orlando Stadium.
Both sides are level on points (56) with only one match remaining in the season. However, the Soweto giants have a superior goal difference over the ‘Brazilians’ (3).
Pitso Mosimane’s men came into their penultimate fixture knowing anything less than a win would seriously damage their title defense hopes.
They took the lead through Anele Ngcongca in the 38th minute with Themba Zwane making it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time.
Keletso Makgalwa put the final nail in the coffin, scoring in injury time as Sundowns pick up three crucial goals and points heading into their final game of the season against Black Leopards on Saturday.
‘Rise and Shine’ have been pushed closer to relegation from the Premiership as the defeat sees them remain bottom of the log on 25 points.
