GladAfrica Championship side Cape Town Spurs have promoted youth prospect, Aden Dreyer, to the first team.
A graduate of the club’s Lambda Academy, Dreyer becomes the latest on a growing list of goalkeepers to rise through the club’s Ikamva ranks and into the senior fold.
The young goalkeeper says it “Feels like a dream come true” to sign his first professional contract.
“I’ve dreamt about this day from the moment I walked through the gates of Ikamva. I thank God really, he helped me a lot. It has always been in my mind to sign a professional contract, ever since I started playing.
“I always thought of the idea of being on TV, playing the game I love,” added Dreyer.
“Hard work, I now need to work harder, push myself and never feel settled,” he continued. “This is just the start of the process and also taking God with me on this process.
“My goals for the future would be taking it a step further, bettering myself. I will plan out short-term goals, putting the small steps into place, and taking it from there.
Dreyer added: “Training during the pandemic was really difficult. But I feel my will power pulled me through and seeing the goal and picturing the goal in my head of becoming a professional footballer inspired me to work hard, even during the pandemic.”
