Youssef En-Nesyri scored his 18th league goal of the season on Wednesday night.
The Moroccan striker netted the only goal of the game as Sevilla defeated Valencia 1-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, but remained in fourth place on the log standings with 74 points from 36 games. They are now a point behind third-placed Real Madrid and two points behind second-placed FC Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid lead the pack with 80 points from 36 games. Barcelona dropped two crucial points when they drew 3-3 against Levante on Tuesday night.
En-Nesyri is Sevilla’s top goal scorer this season and this is his best season in his career. Coincidentally, the 23-year-old was brought in as a back up player for Dutch striker Luuk de Jong, but he has now established himself as their main source of goals up front.
AUBAMEYANG, PARTEY, ELNENY & ZIYECH
Elsewhere, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played 79 minutes and laid an assist for the only goal of the game as Arsenal defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny played 90 minutes in the middle of the part for the Gunners while Hakim Ziyech was a 78th minute substitute for visiting Chelsea.
In Italy, Franck Kessie played 90 minutes and registered his name on the scoresheet as AC Milan thumped Torino 7-0 in Serie A.
The South African winger was a second half substitute as Montpellier drew 2-2 with Paris Saint-Germain, but lost 6-5 on penalties to get knocked out of the French Cup.
The Nigerian striker played 90 minutes and scored his 32nd goal of the season as KRC Genk drew 1-1 against RSC Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League Championship round.
